The Porsche 993 generation of the 911, produced from late 1993 to 1998, holds a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts as the final iteration of the air-cooled era. It represented a significant evolution from its 964 predecessor, featuring an all-new alloy multi-link rear suspension that vastly improved handling and ride comfort, while retaining the iconic silhouette that defined the 911 for decades. The 993 Carrera was powered by a 3.6-liter flat-six engine, initially producing 272 hp, later updated to 285 hp with the Varioram intake system. Its blend of modern refinement and traditional Porsche character solidified its status as a timeless classic, with approximately 68,000 examples produced across all variants before the water-cooled 996 took over. This 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera Convertible offers the quintessential 993 experience, complete with the desirable manual transmission. Showing 69,984 miles on its 3.6L gas H6 engine, it runs strong, promising the visceral engagement and intoxicating soundtrack only an air-cooled flat-six can deliver. While the seller notes it will need cosmetic work, this presents an exciting opportunity for the next owner to restore this open-top icon to their personal standards and truly make it their own. Embrace the chance to own and refine a piece of Porsche's legendary air-cooled history.
