The third-generation Corvette, known as the C3, arrived in 1968 with a dramatic, Stingray-inspired "Coke bottle" design that would define American sports car aesthetics for over a decade. Building on the performance heritage of its predecessors, the C3 evolved through various iterations, always retaining its distinctive long-hood, short-deck proportions and two-seat layout. By 1979, the Corvette had become a cultural icon, representing accessible American performance and style. While horsepower figures had shifted due to evolving emissions regulations, the C3 remained a potent and popular choice, with the 1979 model year proving to be the best-selling Corvette in history, moving over 53,000 units. This 1979 Chevrolet Corvette embodies the quintessential C3 experience, presented in a menacing all-black color scheme that perfectly complements its muscular lines. With 73,691 miles on the odometer, this example has been enjoyed but clearly cared for, retaining its original charm. Under the hood lies the venerable 350 cubic inch V8 engine, mated to a smooth automatic transmission for effortless cruising. Equipped with desirable features such as power windows and removable T-tops, this Corvette is ready to deliver an authentic taste of late-70s American sports car motoring.
