The Porsche 911 Targa has always occupied a unique space within the revered 911 lineage, offering an open-air experience without fully committing to the traditional convertible. Its origins trace back to the mid-1960s when Porsche introduced the Targa as a "safety cabriolet" amid concerns about convertible regulations in the US. The distinctive roll hoop and removable roof panel became an icon, evolving through generations. For the 991 generation, Porsche masterfully reinterpreted the original Targa concept, bringing back the automatic, intricate roof mechanism that stows the entire rear glass section to reveal the classic silver hoop and a true open top. The GTS designation, meanwhile, signifies a sweet spot in the 911 hierarchy, blending enhanced performance with daily usability. It bundles desirable options, often including the Sport Chrono Package, Sport Exhaust, and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with a lower ride height, all while retaining a naturally aspirated engine in earlier 991.1 guise, or a potent twin-turbo flat-six for the 991.2 like this example. The Targa 4 GTS combines the all-weather confidence of all-wheel drive with the GTS's sporting intent and the Targa's unique style, making it a compelling choice for the enthusiast who wants it all. This 2018 Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS, with 21,970 miles on the odometer, represents the zenith of the 991.2 Targa range. Its twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six engine delivers a robust 450 horsepower, channeled through Porsche's renowned PDK dual-clutch transmission, ensuring blistering acceleration and seamless shifts. Finished in a classic color combination, this Targa 4 GTS offers an intoxicating blend of performance, open-top driving pleasure, and iconic design. This is an opportunity to acquire a stunning example of Porsche's modern classic, ready for its next chapter of exhilarating drives.
