The Grand Sport nameplate holds a revered place in Corvette history, first appearing in 1963 as Zora Arkus-Duntov's clandestine effort to build five lightweight, race-ready Sting Rays to challenge Shelby's Cobras. Though GM's corporate racing ban cut its competitive life short, those original five became legendary. The C6 generation saw the Grand Sport revived as a production model, bridging the gap between the standard Corvette and the Z06. For the C7, the Grand Sport continued this tradition, offering the naturally aspirated 6.2L LT1 V8 engine in a wide-body chassis with Z06-derived suspension, brakes, and aerodynamic enhancements, making it a track-focused machine without the supercharger. This 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Convertible carries on that legacy, presenting a compelling blend of open-air exhilaration and genuine performance. With 48,456 miles on its odometer, this example has been enjoyed as intended, its 6.2L V8 engine paired with a proper manual transmission for an unadulterated driving experience. The convertible body style ensures that every shift and every blip of the throttle is accompanied by the full symphony of the LT1 engine. This is an opportunity to acquire a pure, driver-focused Corvette that honors its storied past.
