The C5-generation Chevrolet Corvette Z06 stands as a high-water mark for American performance, a car born from a singular focus on track capability. Introduced in 2001, the Z06 revived an iconic moniker, replacing the previous hardtop model with a lighter, stiffer fixed-roof coupe. Power came from the potent LS6 engine, a 5.7-liter V8 specifically tuned for the Z06, initially producing 385 horsepower before being bumped to 405 hp for 2002. This was a Corvette built to challenge the best sports cars in the world, renowned for its incredible balance, formidable power, and the unmistakable growl of its titanium exhaust. The ultimate expression of the C5 Z06 arrived in 2004 with the Commemorative Edition, distinguished by its Le Mans Blue paint, unique Z16 aluminum wheels, and a carbon fiber hood — a direct homage to Corvette Racing's success at Le Mans. This particular 2004 Z06 Commemorative Edition, showing 64,000 miles, embodies that racing spirit. Power comes from the original 5.7L LS6 V8, paired with its factory manual transmission, both reported to be in excellent health. The car retains its original Z16 aluminum wheels, carbon fiber hood, and titanium exhaust, all key identifiers of this special edition. Beyond its factory specification, this Z06 has been meticulously maintained and thoughtfully upgraded by its adult enthusiast owner, including a new GM air conditioning system, fresh Michelin Pilot Sport tires, DBA slotted rotors with Hawk pads, and stainless steel brake lines. The driving experience is further enhanced by an MGW shifter and billet pedals, while a signed dashboard by legendary Corvette instructor and racer Andy Pilgrim adds a unique piece of provenance to this already special machine. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a well-preserved and enhanced example of one of the most celebrated Corvettes in modern history.
