The 996 generation of the Porsche 911, launched in 1997, marked a pivotal moment in the model's storied history. It was the first 911 to feature a water-cooled engine, a significant departure from the air-cooled flat-sixes that had defined its predecessors for over three decades. This bold engineering move allowed for increased power, improved emissions, and greater refinement, ushering the 911 into the modern era. Despite initial purist apprehension, the 996 quickly proved its mettle, offering a more spacious interior, enhanced aerodynamics, and a driving experience that remained quintessentially 911. Its sleek, integrated headlight design also distinguished it from previous generations, setting a new aesthetic direction for the brand. This 2001 Porsche 911 Carrera Convertible, from the heart of the 996's production run, presents an opportunity to experience that landmark generation. Showing 111,269 miles on the odometer, this example is powered by the capable 3.4L H6 DOHC 24V engine, paired with an automatic transmission for effortless cruising. The convertible top invites open-air exhilaration, perfectly complementing the engaging chassis dynamics that define every 911. This Carrera Convertible offers a compelling entry point into the world of Porsche's iconic sports car.
