The 996 generation of the Porsche 911, launched in 1997, marked a pivotal moment in the model's storied history. It was the first 911 to feature a water-cooled engine, a significant departure from the air-cooled flat-sixes that had defined its predecessors for decades. Despite initial resistance from some purists, the 996 proved to be a critical step forward, allowing the 911 to meet evolving emissions and noise regulations while significantly improving performance and refinement. The Carrera Convertible, in particular, offered an open-air experience that amplified the 996's engaging driving dynamics, making it a popular choice for those who wanted to enjoy the iconic Porsche experience with the wind in their hair. This 2001 Porsche 911 Carrera Convertible presents in excellent condition, showing just 40,000 miles on its odometer. Power comes from the celebrated 3.4-liter water-cooled flat-six engine, paired here with a smooth automatic transmission, offering a refined yet spirited driving experience. The classic black exterior is complemented by a matching black soft top, creating a timeless and elegant aesthetic that remains captivating today. This well-preserved example offers an accessible entry point into the world of Porsche 911 ownership.
