The C3 Chevrolet Corvette, launched in 1968, represented a dramatic evolution of America's sports car, drawing heavily from the Mako Shark II concept car. Its iconic "Coke bottle" styling, with pronounced fender bulges and a sleek, aerodynamic profile, captured the spirit of the era. By 1979, the C3 was in its twilight years, having seen numerous changes in response to emissions regulations and safety standards. Despite these challenges, the '79 model year was a sales success, moving over 53,000 units, making it the best-selling Corvette to date. This era of C3 Corvettes, while often associated with declining horsepower figures from the factory, laid the groundwork for future performance iterations and remains a beloved chapter in the Corvette's storied history. This 1979 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe transcends its original specification, having been thoughtfully upgraded with a modern LS1 engine, ensuring a significant boost in both power and reliability. Mated to a rebuilt TH350 automatic transmission, this setup delivers a compelling blend of classic aesthetics and contemporary performance. The car presents in excellent condition, showcasing brand new blue paint accented by striking gray, silver, red, and white stripes that perfectly complement its timeless lines. The interior has also been refreshed with new carpet, recovered seats, and modern Intellitronix Digital gauges, while amenities like working A/C, electric windows, and power brakes enhance the driving experience. Rolling on 18-inch chrome Riddler wheels wrapped in Nitto Extreme tires (245/45 front, 295/45 rear), this C3 has a confident stance to match its upgraded powertrain, with 123,456 miles on the odometer. This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire a well-executed restomod that marries the iconic appeal of a C3 Corvette with the performance of a modern LS powerplant.
