The 1978 Chevrolet Corvette holds a significant place in the model's lineage, marking its 25th anniversary and serving as the penultimate year for the iconic C3 generation's "fastback" redesign. This year was notable for several aesthetic changes, including a new rear window that vastly improved visibility and gave the car a sleeker, more contemporary profile. Production numbers for 1978 were impressive, with over 46,000 units sold, a testament to the Corvette's enduring appeal even amidst evolving emissions regulations and oil crises. The C3, launched in 1968, was a radical departure from its predecessors, drawing inspiration from the Mako Shark II concept car and becoming an instant classic with its dramatic, flowing lines and pop-up headlamps. This particular 1978 example showcases the beloved C3 design, powered by its original 350 cubic-inch V8 engine. With a remarkably low 51,092 miles on the odometer, this Corvette presents as a well-preserved piece of automotive history. The manual transmission offers an engaging driving experience, connecting the driver directly to the raw power and character of the classic American V8. Its condition reflects careful ownership, maintaining the integrity of its original specification. For the enthusiast seeking a classic Corvette with low mileage and a manual gearbox, this is an enticing proposition.
