The third-generation Corvette, known internally as the C3, launched in 1968 and marked a dramatic stylistic departure from its predecessors. Its iconic "Mako Shark" inspired bodywork, penned by Zora Arkus-Duntov and Bill Mitchell, was a direct descendant of the Mako Shark II concept car. For 1971, the Corvette continued its reign as America's sports car, offering a blend of aggressive styling and potent performance. This model year is particularly notable as it was the last to offer the fiber-optic lamp monitoring system and featured lower compression ratios across all engines in preparation for unleaded fuel, making it a pivotal year in the C3's evolution. This 1971 Chevrolet Corvette coupe presents an intriguing opportunity for the enthusiast looking to embark on a restoration or personalization project. Showing 99,626 miles on the odometer, this example is equipped with a manual transmission, promising an engaging driving experience once returned to its former glory. The classic C3 body, with its distinctive flowing lines and coke-bottle fenders, remains a timeless design statement. This Corvette represents a chance to own a piece of American automotive history, ready for its next chapter.
