The Jaguar XKSS holds a legendary status, born from the ashes of Jaguar's dominant D-Type racing program. With rule changes effectively ending the D-Type's competition career, Jaguar found themselves with a surplus of chassis. Rather than let them languish, Sir William Lyons famously decided to convert 25 of these purebred racers into road-going supercars. The result was the XKSS, a machine that blended Le Mans-winning pedigree with just enough civility for the road, creating one of the earliest and most coveted "supercars" in history. Tragically, a fire at Jaguar's Browns Lane plant destroyed nine of the original 25, cementing the XKSS's extreme rarity and desirability, with only 16 ever reaching customers. Its raw beauty and blistering performance, famously enjoyed by Steve McQueen, have made it an icon of 1950s automotive design and engineering. Given the scarcity of original XKSS models, specialist firms like Lynx of Hastings, UK, have become renowned for crafting exquisite continuations. Lynx, established in 1964, earned a stellar reputation for their meticulous attention to detail and commitment to authenticity, often utilizing original Jaguar components and period-correct construction techniques. This particular example is the very last XKSS continuation built by Lynx, a significant detail that underscores its provenance. It comes with an incredibly low 1,215 miles on the odometer, presenting in virtually as-new condition. Under the bonnet lies a period-correct 3.8-liter inline 6-cylinder engine, paired with a full-synchro 4-speed manual transmission, delivering an authentic driving experience that harks back to the golden age of British sports cars. This Lynx XKSS represents a singular opportunity to acquire a meticulously crafted homage to one of Jaguar's most fabled creations.
