The Ford Fairlane, particularly in its mid-1960s iteration, stands as a testament to the golden age of American muscle. Originally conceived as a full-size offering, the Fairlane downsized for its fifth generation in 1966, perfectly positioning it to compete in the burgeoning intermediate performance market. The 1967 model year, the second of this acclaimed generation, refined the clean, muscular lines of its predecessor, offering a potent blend of style and straight-line prowess. The GT trim, specifically, marked it as a factory-built performer, a true muscle car ready to challenge the competition with available big-block power and a robust drivetrain, making it a favorite among drag racers and street cruisers alike. This 1967 Ford Fairlane GT, a genuine factory 4-speed car, embodies that spirit with a compelling blend of originality and thoughtful upgrades. While it began life with a 289 V-8, it now boasts a potent 393 cubic-inch stroker Windsor V-8, delivering significantly enhanced performance. This power is routed through a freshly built "Dave's Top Loader 4-speed close-ratio transmission" and a Ford 9-inch rear end with a 31-spline Traction-Loc differential and 3:91 posi gearing, ensuring all 10,500 miles on the odometer have been exhilarating. With approximately 3,000 miles on the refreshed drivetrain, including a new clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate, this Fairlane is ready for the road. Its two-tone blue interior remains in remarkably nice, original condition, complemented by super nice stainless and chrome trim, while a 20-25 year old paint job still presents well, giving it a classic, driver-quality appeal further enhanced by 4-wheel disc brakes and a Flowmaster stainless exhaust that delivers the perfect muscle car soundtrack. This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire a true factory 4-speed Fairlane GT, upgraded for modern enjoyment without sacrificing its vintage charm.
