The Austin-Healey 3000, affectionately known as the "Big Healey," stands as a quintessential British roadster, embodying the spirit of post-war sports car motoring. Launched in 1959, the 3000 evolved through several iterations, culminating in the MkIII (BJ8) in 1963. This final generation represented the most refined and luxurious of the breed, featuring a curved windshield, wind-up windows, and a more comfortable interior. The MkIII Phase II, introduced in 1964, further enhanced the experience with a revised chassis providing increased ground clearance and a more powerful 150 bhp engine, making it a formidable competitor in rallies and a joy on the open road. With its distinctive grille and elegant lines, the Big Healey remains a timeless icon, celebrated for its robust inline-six engine and engaging driving dynamics. This particular 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 MkIII BJ8 Phase II presents in a classic Olde English White over Burgundy Red, a trulyperiod-correct combination that accentuates its graceful coachwork. The interior features black leather trim, complemented by a matching soft top, boot, and tonneau cover, all indicative of a well-cared-for example. Power is delivered through its legendary inline-six engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive, allowing for relaxed cruising and spirited sprints alike. The car rides on striking 72-spoke chrome wire wheels, further enhancing its curb appeal, while a wood and alloy steering wheel and period spot lamps complete the authentic look. Showing a believed-original 28,079 miles, this Healey has proven its mettle and reliability on numerous club rallies across the U.S. and Western States, a testament to its diligent maintenance and robust nature. This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire a rally-proven and beautifully presented example of the ultimate Big Healey.
