The 1962 Corvette holds a special place in history as the final iteration of the C1 generation, marking the culmination of Chevrolet's original vision for America's sports car. Introduced in 1953, the C1 evolved significantly over its lifespan, shedding its early inline-six for increasingly potent V8s and refining its styling from the iconic "tooth" grille to the clean, sculpted lines of the '62. This particular year is celebrated for its unique blend of classic C1 aesthetics with the introduction of the new 327 cubic-inch V8 (though our example boasts something even more formidable), along with a solid rear axle before the independent rear suspension of the C2 Sting Ray revolutionized the model. It's a bridge between eras, a classic in its own right, and the last hurrah for the foundational design that launched a legend. This stunning Roman Red 1962 Corvette Convertible is far more than a meticulously preserved classic; it's a thoroughly re-engineered Resto-Mod, built by BBC Speed and Machine and completed in 2013 with over $125,000 invested. Under the hood lies a potent 406 cubic-inch small block V8, blueprinted and balanced, featuring AFR aluminum heads, a high-performance roller cam, forged pistons, and an array of top-shelf components culminating in an impressive 500 horsepower. Mated to a manual transmission, this car promises an exhilarating driving experience, while modern touches like a new wiring harness, Flaming River column, and Alumitech radiator ensure reliability. With just 2,500 miles since its comprehensive build, this Roman Red beauty, complete with its black leather interior and both soft and hard tops, presents in show-quality condition, ready to impress both on the road and at concours events. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a meticulously crafted C1 Corvette that perfectly blends timeless style with breathtaking modern performance.
